Do You Need The Allocated Server?

September 15th, 2010 by Security Guru · No Comments

Do you need the allocated server? How to choose the server? In this article the base criteria which will help you to make a correct choice are considered.

Probably, you are surprised, but the allocated servers exist without dependence from that, whether they are necessary to you or not.

Or, probably, you know that the allocated server is necessary, but you experience difficulties when it comes to its choice.

In anyway, in this article you will find some advices which will help to make this choice.

Whether it is necessary for you?

If the space on the server is rented, then more often there are 2 variants: to rent space divided with another users or to rent the allocated server.

Using a divided hosting [shared] ( more often is called as a virtual hosting), your web site divides space of the server and the network connections with other web sites. If you rent the allocated server, then you receive all space and connections.
Rent of divided resources on servers is more cheaply, than on allocated ones, because it doesn’t demand considerable skills of administration. You don’t need to have many technical skills. For this reason divided servers usually get out at the initial stage for web sites with the small traffic or small-scale business.
But divided (shared) servers are not so good for large or web sites with the big traffic.

The rent of the allocated physical server costs more expensively and its maintenance service is more difficult. But if your business depends on stability of service you should think seriously about renting the allocated server.

The reasons are more described below:

Speed.

Time of the answer of the server at architecture of divided resources varies depending on what occurs to other sites. For example, the time of loading of your site will change, if suddenly other site receives more inquiries.

You can’t supervise such delays, if the divided server is used.

On the allocated server you are responsible for management, an estimation of level of the traffic and other events which influence time of reaction of the server.

Flexibility.

Divided servers give the limited access to an operating system and the accessible software, given on the server.

If you want to establish and start the specialized or adjusted business appendix or databases, then most likely the allocated server is required to you.

Scaling.

With the growth of your site, with the increase in the traffic and requirements to work of appendices it will be necessary for you to modernize the server.
If you use the divided server, then the possibilities of such updating are limited. The divided hosting usually allows to increase disk space, but no more. You can’t independently modernize a hard disk, operative memory, an operating system or the software.

If you use the allocated server, that is possibility to solve these problems independently.

Safety.

The divided hosting isn’t so safe, as the allocated server. If the protection on other site of the server is damaged , then your site can be damaged too.

Before you buy any web hosting, you need to go through the hosting reviews routine. Surely you need to be realistic and understand that now every cpanel hosting will be real. But if you go through the nice number of web hosting unlimited sites - you will see the real picture.
